Originally founded by Shafin Diamond Tejani, Victory Square (VS) is a venture builder that builds start-ups in the web, mobile, gaming and film spaces. With a special focus on funding socially responsible companies, international start-ups and female founders. In 2015 Shafin partnered with Ray Walia to create Victory Square Ventures.
Shafin launched his first company, an online dating website, from his university dorm room at the age of 19. Since then, he and the VS team have launched over 40 start-ups, in 24 different countries, generating over $100M in sales.
Ray is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in both the entertainment and technology sectors. Ray founded Launch Academy, Vancouver’s leading entrepreneurship facility, which has hosted more than 500 startups that have raised over $100 Million in funding. Ray was named Entrepreneur Mentor of the Year for 2014 and 2015, BIV Top Forty Under 40, and was selected to represent Canada at the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Summit and by the U.S. Department of State.
Ray has contributed towards the development of the technology ecosystem in North America and has hosted and run events that have been attended by top leaders in tech, international dignitaries and ambassadors, Unicorn CEOs and Founders of Fortune 100 companies with the most recent being the TractionConf.io event in both Vancouver and San Francisco.
Outside of this entrepreneurial work, the VS team has contributed significant time to charity and community work - with a mission focused on strengthening the organizational capacity of non-profits serving children in need and youth at risk. The vision is to ensure more children and youth reach their full potential.
Since its inception, the VS team have donated 10,000 volunteer hours, helped raise over $88 million for community organizations, and awarded over $1M in scholarships.
